Recycling of Sewage and Industrial Wsate on Land a Monitoring and Surveillance Report on Chandigarh Sewage farm

                                               Foreword

The Central Board for the Prevention and Control of Water Pollution has opened a new front named Resource Recycling as an extension to pollution control. Keeping this in mind, the Central Board conducted a monitoring programme in 1982 on the existing land application of waste sites of Chandigarh to take a stock of the existing situation and for future modification vide Section 17 (i) , and 0) of Water (Prevention and Control 01 Pollution) Act, 1974.

This treatise is the FIRST publication in the newly introduced Resources Recycling Series (RERES). The treatise reports the salient aspects of preliminaries and study area, wastewater detail, material distribution on land app„cation sites, risks assessment, proposed modification on existing management practices and cost .consideration.
The entire workistnce its planning to present ation of the report was , done under the direct supervision of Dr. Manotosh Sengupta, \ Scientist along,with the Central Board's core staff comprising Dr. / R.C. 'Trivedi, Shri A.P. Srivastava, Shri P .1 .S. Dadhwal, Shri M. , chakjabarty, Shri R.C. Tiwari, Shri B.M. Gupta, Shri R.K. Rastogi and Shri B.K. 1akhmola who completed the project through their involvement in field and analytical works. Shri D.D. Basu helped in interpretation and finalisation of report .
