Common Effluent Treatment Plant Performance Evaluation of Operational Projects (U.P.) 1998

                                                Foreword
The contribution of small scale sector towards industrial growth and employment generation can hardly be over-emphasised. However, the small scale industries also contribute towards pollution in significant proportions. The individual units are often unable to install requisite pollution control systems. Hence, the concept of Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CEPT) is gaining ground and a number of such plants have been commissioned for clusters of small scale industries in different parts of the country .

The study was conducted by a multi-disciplinary team of my colleagues in the CPCB Zonal Office, Kanpur led by Shri B. P. Shukla, Senior Environmental Engineer and Shri R. K. Singh, Scientist B. The co-operation extended by the authorities including GPCU-U.P. Jal Nigam, Kanpur, lIT Kanpur, UPPCB, M/s Envirad-Kanpur, and Indo-Dutch Environmental and Sanitary Engg. Project-Kanpur is gratefully acknowledged.

We hope, the report will be useful to all concerned .
