Proceedings of the Workshop on Biological Indicators and Indicators of Environmental Pollution

                                               Foreword
It was decided to organize a Workshop on "Biological Indicators and Indices of Environmental Pollution" sponsored by World Health' Organization under Group Educational Activities. The World Health Organization under its Project Environm- ental pollution Control sponsors such Workshops from time to time.

The aim of this Workshop is to project the importance of bioindicators and biomonitoring in the field of environmental pollution (both water and air), to call out and pool together the relevant information which is presently scattered and difficult to obtain in a useable form. This workshop should also help to scrutinise the State- of-the Art, on which will be founded the future line of action.

The participants of the Workshop are Scientists (Chemists, Bacteriologists, Biologists, Meteorologists, Analysts, etc.) and Engineers (Environmentai/ Public Health, Civil, etc. ) working in Water Pollution Control Boards

functioning at State and Central Level and also from various research and teaching institutions, The total number of participants is expected to be about 70.

The speakers have been invited from Biological faculties of various Universties and Research Institutions both at Senior and Junior levels. The Central Board has identified Dr. A R Zafar of the Department of Botany, Osmania University, Hyderabad as the Chief Organizer of this Workshop. On behalf of the Central Board I convey my gratitude to the Osmania University for graciously accepting the responsibility to organize the Workshop during September 21-23, 1981.
