Status Report of H-Acid and G-Salt

                                                Foreword
Dyes and dye intermediates industry has shown a steady growth in the last four decades particulary because of export poterltial. Over the years, in addition to organised sector the small -scale sector has also been increasingly involved in production of dyes and dye intermediates. Manufacture of dye stuffs requires the synthesis of a chain of intermediates which are mainly derived from aromatic hydrocarbons. The production process and unit operations such as, sulfonation, nitration and reduction are accompanied by generation of pollutants which find their way into environment in the form effluent and emission.

H-Acid and G-Salt are such intermediates of hazardous nature. This report is a com- . prehensive document on H-Acid and G-Salt which deals with the preventive and control measures as needed for production and handling of these hazardous chemicals.

This document has been prepared by the National Chemicals Laboratory 1 Pune in as- sociation with the Central and State Pollution Control Boards.

It is hoped that the document will be useful to the Pollution Control Boards, industries, and others concerned. .
