Environmental Evaluation of Oil Drilling and Collection Systems, A follow up, A Pursuit

                                                Foreword
As a follow-up of the study the Central Board for the Prevention and Control of Water Pollution undertook in 1982-83 tn collaboration with the Board for Prevention and Control of Water and Air Pollution, Assam (Programme Objective Series: PROBES/8/1982..,83 : Initial Environmental Evaluation Oil Drilling and Group Gathering Stations for Assam Pollution Control Board), the areas old and new were revisited during April 30 to May 3, 1985 and extensively photographed in order to evaluate the present status in comparison to conditions prevailing in 1982-83. Prof. Ashoke Mukherjee of Jadavpur University aJongwith Shri Kshfrode Baruah of Central Pollution Control Board and Shri Chandan Bhadury of Assam State PolllJtion Control Board visited the sites. Prof. Mukherjee did the entire photography work, and provided guidance to Shri Baruah to prepare the report. Shri Premankur Barua and Shri Ramachandran Pillai provided the typing services. OfficiaJs of ONGC, Eastern Region, cooperated with the Central Board's working team, and supplied all data as required.

The earlier document made useful impact on the Industry and this docu- ment is expected to make still a better impact on the Industry and the environment of the State.
