Performance
Study of Waste Water Treatment Plant at Mother Dairy

Forward
Install
an effluent treatment plant and try later! to improve the perfor-
mance of the plant -should not be the golden guiding principle.
Here is, of course, a case where emissions were attempted to be
re<;tified by conducting involved plant performance investigation.
Periodical evaluation of efficacy of the wastewater treatment plant
enables the pollution control agency to closely follow the trend
of compliance of the wa~tewater quality with the stipulated consent
limits and to review the limits accordingly. Mother Dairy Plant,
Delhi, installed and commissioned its wastewater treatment plant
in April 1982, due to constant efforts of the Central Board for
the Prevention and Control of Water Pollution. The treatment plant
operation is evaluated by conducting a performance study, the assessment
of which is brought out in this report. The study is fairly elaborate
to give an assessment of overall treatment plant performance as
well as unit-wise performance. Mathematical calculations for various
influent and effluent parameters are dealt with in detail in this
report, thus making

a model report. Cooperation of the management of the Mother Dairy
plant by providing their data whenever required is duly acknowledged
herewith. This project was supervised by Dr. R.H. Siddiqi, Consultant
to the Central Board. Shri s. Gupta, Environmental Engineer, Central
Board, coordinated the programme of the study. Dr. S.D. Makhijani,
Scientist, coordinated the analytical part of the project. The project
team comprises of Shri J.S. Kamyotra, Shri D.C. Sharma, Shri T .K.
Bandhopadhyay, Shri Mukesh Sharma, Shri J.S. Yadav, Shri R.C. Saxena,
Shri P.J.S. Dhadwal, Shri M.R. Rajput, Shri B.M. Gupta, Shri B.K.
