Foreword
Central
Pollution Control Board has developed Minimal National Sta!ldards
(MINAS) for various in and one of them is for Man- Made Fibre industry.
The effluent standards stipulated in MINAS are achievable by adopting
pollution control measures which are within the techno-economic
feasibility. The Central and State Boards have agreed that MINAS
would under no circumstances be relaxed because of its acceptability
to the industry on techno-economic criteria. To enforce such standards
under the Water Act,1974, the Central Pollution Control Board has
initiated countrywide implementation programme in Man Made Fibre
industry. The Central Board in coordination with State Boards conducted
detailed investigations in the industrial units to assess the environmental
pollution in them and to recommend certain remedial measures to
be taken to control pollution. The concerned State Boards pursuing
the recommendations to be fulfilled by industry within a specific
frame work of time to ensure that the MINAS are achieved.
