Foreword
Noise causes health
effects, as also socio-cultural and economic effects. Most of the
time, its effects cannot be evaluated objectively.
Noise is generated from a variety of sources such as industries, transport
vehicles, construction activities, generator sets, fire-crackers and
a variety of indoor and outdoor sources. A number of Acts and Rules
have been framed in our country, for control of noise pollution.
This document is a compilation of various Acts and Rules on noise
control. The compilation provides information relating to its sources,
measurement, impact and control of noise .
