Noise Pollution Regulations in India

                                               Foreword

Noise causes health effects, as also socio-cultural and economic effects. Most of the time, its effects cannot be evaluated objectively.

Noise is generated from a variety of sources such as industries, transport vehicles, construction activities, generator sets, fire-crackers and a variety of indoor and outdoor sources. A number of Acts and Rules have been framed in our country, for control of noise pollution.

This document is a compilation of various Acts and Rules on noise control. The compilation provides information relating to its sources, measurement, impact and control of noise .

The information has been collated by Shri Bharat W. and Shri G.K. Mendiratta under the guidance of Shri Lalit Kapur and Dr. B. Sengupta. Typing assistance has been provided by Shri Tara Singh, LDC.
