Municipal
Acts are the first legislations in the country, which deal with environmental
pollution caused by municipal solid wastes. Although, environmental pollution
is not dealt with under municipal enactments, the provisions which deal with prevention
or suppression of nuisance are generally aimed at combating pollution at the local
level
Some of the provisions of the Municipal Acts relating to solid
waste management are as follows:
