13.0 SOLAR FUEL Recently there has been some research to evaluate how solar energy may be used to power vehicles, however, the possibility of operating a vehicle on solar energy or solar fuel is very slim. The research on solar power is slowly shifting to the idea of using the solar energy to run certain auxiliary systems in the vehicle. Solar energy is derived from the sun. In order to collect this energy and use it to fuel a vehicle, photovoltaic cells are used. |

13.1 Indian Initiative on Solar Energy:
Solar and wind power systems are already in commercial use across the country
today. India infact has one of the world's largest solar photovoltaic industries.
India has more than 350,000 solar photovoltaic systems installed in the country.
Solar energy initiatives started in India as early as 70s and lot of developments
have taken place since then but most of the efforts are concentrated to generation
of electricity.
