9.0 EMISSION BENEFITS ON I&M-INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE
Inspection & Maintenance is rightly perceived as the best tool for reducing
emissions from in-use vehicles. Many countries have conducted I&M campaigns
and recorder substantial reduction in exhaust emissions. This section presents
the results of various &M tests in different countries including India.
9.1 India
Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) has conducted various tests
on all categories of on-road vehicles. This study proved that I&M brings
better benefits specially with respect to CO emission reduction from in-use
vehicles. The figures below show the comparisons of emissions before and after
I&M.
