One of the mandates of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) is to collect, compile and disseminate statistical data on the status and trends of air pollution. Presently, 18 State Boards are connected with the Central Board through a nation -wide network. -.JICNET, of the Natinallnformatics Centre and SIRNET of INSDOC. Also, through these networks, the Central & State Pollution Control Boards have been connected to CSIR Laboratories, Universities, IITs, Central & State Govt. offices for Electronic-mail and data transfer purposes. some of the State Boards have already started sending the data through NICNET and SIRNET. We hope, with the estableshment of the network, datal information will flow smoothly from and among the Pllution Control Boards. .
The present report covering the data of 1992 is the fourth in the series on annual Statistics of Ambient Air Quality. The cooperation of the State Pollution Control Boards in the NAAQM programme is gratefully acknowledged. It is hoped that this report will be useful to all those concerned with air quality management in the country.
