Foreword
The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) in collaboration with the State Pollution Control Boards (SPCBs) is monitoring the Water Quality at 507 sites in different parts of tpe country .The monitoring sites are spread over all the major rivers, some medium and minor rivers, lakes, canals, creeks and ground-water resources. Monitoring is conducted by respective SPCBs on monthly or quarterly basis except on yearly basis at 3 locations of Gangotri, Yamunotri and Hanumanchatti of Ganga Basin. The data are transmitted by SPCBs through a computer network. After collating and processing the data, CPCB brings out the Water Quality Status and Statistics Reports on yearly basis for dissemination of information. The present report is the ninth of the series on Water Quality Monitoring Statistics.
