STATUS OF WASTEWATER MANAGEMENT IN NOIDA AND GHAZIABAD

The Central Pollution Control Board conducted a comprehensive study to assess the status of wastewater management in NOIDA (Gautam Budh Nagar) & Ghaziabad districts of the Uttar Pradesh. This study covered various problems associated with sewage generation, characterisation of drains, industrial effluents, status of industrial wastewater management, collection of sewage, sewage treatment, concept of common effluent treatment plant and options for disposal of treated industrial effluent and sewage. The study findings has thrown light on the constraints being faced in implementation of various schemes, suggested a time-bound implementation programme for various issues which need to be taken-up for a holistic approach to wastewater mangement in these two districts. The report has been prepared subsequent to the investigations and thorough understanding of various implications has been submitted to the Kaul Committee constituted by the Hon'ble Supreme Court. The finalised document may be considered as a model document to describe approach for wastewater management in any city.
