COASTAL OCEAN MONITORING AND PREDICTION SYSTEM (COMPAS)

The coastal ocean monitoring along West Bengal was carried out during 1999. The study included seasonal monitoring of coastal waters, sediments and biological material including bacteriology for a set of recommended parameters upto the distance of about 22.5 km offshore (territorial limit) alongwith five pre-determined transects. Also, a decadal monitoring profile on the programme (1989-1999) has been drawn up with recommendations.
