Ozone depleting Substances (ODS) phase out programme and the Montreal Protocol

CPCB provides support to the activities related to implementation of the country's Action Plan for ODS phase out under the Montreal Protocol. The Article 7 of the Montreal Protocol mandated submission of annual production, export, import and feed stock data on ODS listed in Annexure A, B, C and E of the protocol. The data for the year 2001and 2002 were scrutinized, consolidated and finalized for discussion by the Standing Committee on Monitoring in its two meetings held at Central Pollution Control Board. The data has been considered by the Empowered Steering Committee of the MoEF and sent to Ozone Secretariat after approval.

Investment Project proposals on ODS phase out, received in the CPCB, were scrutinized and comments provided. The implementation of the investment project proposals was monitored in the nineteen foam sector industries and status reports were prepared. Technical Comments on various issues as agenda items, agenda notes were prepared to support the functioning of various committees created to facilitate ODS phase out implementation programme in the country. Trainers' training programme and strategy was attended.
