Inventory of Hazardous Waste Management Facilities in Maharastra
CPCB has taken up a project on inventory of hazardous waste management facilities in Maharastra. Detailed questionnaire was prepared to collect dry relevant data. Field visits were also carried out to collect the information on general status of hazardous waste management practices adopted by the industries as well as in industrial estates. Recently MIDC has developed one site at Taloja, but only little amount of hazardous waste has been disposed so far. The hazardous waste generated by industries is either being dumped inside the industry premises or dumped in the industrial estate at illegal dumping sites. There are six other potential sites identified by the MIDC and these are under different stages of development.
