Guidelines on "Design & Construction of Bio-medial Waste Incinerator" and "Common bio-medial Waste Treatment Facility"
In order to check the proliferation of poorly designed bio-medial waste incinerator, guidelines on "Design & Construction of Bio-medical Waste Incinerator" has been prepared. The guidelines recommend various design features of an incinerator as well as the air pollution control device. The guidelines on "Common Bio-medical Waste Treatment Facility" recommend the minimum infrastructure and treatment equipment requirement of common bio-medical waste treatment facility (CBWTF), recording the transportation of bio-medical waste. The guidelines would help in installing CBWTF with adequate quality and adopting proper operations.
Approval of New technology for Treatment of Bio-medical waste
Applications for introduction of three new technologies for bio-medical waste treatment was received by the CPCB. Upon examining these technologies, the technology "Demolizer" was given a conditional approval. The "Demolizer" technology thermally disinfects certain categories of bio-medical waste in absence of steam sterilization.
Video film on Bio-medical waste management
A video film of about 30 minutes is being developed on bio-medical waste management. The film will demonstrate the need of imparting treatment of bio-medical waste.
Supporting to SPCB to organize workshop/training
Financial and technical support was provided to Uttranchal and Tripura SPCB to organize state and district levels workshops/training programmes on bio-medical waste management.
Preparation of Countrywide Status of Bio-medical waste management
CPCB compiles and prepares the status of bio-medical waste management in various states in the country as per the information forwarded by the SPCBs/PCCs. The compiled latest information on common bio-medical waste treatment facilities are presented in Table ahead.
