· Internal Audit of H.Q. and Zonal Laboratories Kolkata and Kanpur were conducted to ensure effective implementation and maintain the Quality System at CPCB Laboratories.

· Management Review Meeting was conducted to overall review the Quality system implemented at Headquarters, Zonal Laboratory Kolkata and Kanpur to improve it further for weak areas as required under ISO 17025.

· Awareness programmes on Laboratory Quality System, System Documents etc. were organized for various levels of laboratory staff.

· Test methods for about 70 parameters were reviewed, revised and circulated to CPCB headquarters and Zonal Laboratories for adoption and use.

· CPCB officials were imparted training on Laboratory Quality System and Management and on other related subjects for further improvement in testing of environmental samples in CPCB laboratories.

· On-site assessment of Central Lab Delhi and Zonal Laboratories Kolkata and Kanpur were conducted by NABL Audit Team. Assessors have recommended for accreditation of CPCB Central Lab Delhi and Zonal Laboratories Kanpur and Kolkata are in the line for obtaining NABL Accreditation Certification.

· Three day training-cum-workshop on "Uncertainity Measurements in Chemical Testing" was organized for laboratory staff at Central Pollution Control Board.

· Major factors of Uncertainity in Chemical and Biological Testing for selected parameters under the scope of CPCB headquarters Laboratories for accreditation were identified and a schedule was prepared for their estimation in a span of four years as required for accreditation under ISO 17025.

· More than 15 Standard Operating Procedures covering technical and managerial aspects were written and issued to headquarters and Zonal Office Laboratories for their adoption and use.
