Identification of Hazardous Waste Generating Industry in the State of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana & Himachal Pradesh

                                               Foreword

The Hazardous Waste (Management & Handling) Rules were notified in 1989 under the Environment (Protection) Act 1986. These rules aim at providing control for the generation, collection, treatment, transport, import, storage and disposal of hazardous wastes. The primary objective of these regulations is to establish a control mechanism for the management of hazardous wastes. Under rules, State regulatory agencies are required to identify the units generating hazardous wastes and also issue the authorization for collection, treatment and disposal of hazardous wastes.

The present report, which is the outcome of an exercise under taken by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) for inventorization of the hazardous waste generating units (large/medium) in the States of Madhya Pradesh, Ut tar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh
I would like to place on record our sincere appreciation for the cooperation provided by the concerned State Pollution Control Boards in eliciting relevant information for this document.
