Foreword

Various technologies are available for processing of Municipal Solid Waste and new technologies are also being propogated by various agencies. To enable local bodies to decide on adoption of suitable technologies, a comprehensive report has been prepared highlighting the merits and demerits of such technologies. The report also outlines the procedure which may be adopted for inviting tenders and selection of tenders.

The Central Pollution Control Board with the assistance of NEERI has prepared this report. The work for preparation of the report has been supervised by Dr.B.Sengupta, Member Secretary and Co-ordinated by Dr. Avinash Akolkar and Shri A.K.Vidyarthi. Report setting has been done by Shri S.K.Anand.

We hope, the report will serve as a useful reference document and provide guidelines for taking necessary decision.
