Ambient Noise Level Status in Delhi During 1995 & 1999

                                                Foreword
Ambient noise is a composite of sounds from many sources. Noise pollution is increasing due to rapidly increasing population, growth of industries and transport system. Noise pollution causes annoyance, interferes with communication and poses health hazards.

This report is the outcome of a survey carried out by the Central Pollution Control Board at ten different locations covering residential, commercial, industrial, silence zone and traffic intersections in Delhi during 1995 & 1999.

Protection against noise pollution is of serious concern for physical and mental well being. Noise pollution is a social problem and it is possible to regulate noise if the society and the regulatory authorities act in unison.

We hope, this report will be useful to the concerned authorities and public at large.
