Assessment of Vehicular Pollution in Metropolitan Cities - Part I - Abridge Report

                                               Foreword
Cities of the country was undertaken during the year 1988-89. The survey was conducted through interaction with Automob1le Association, petroleum marketing organisations and through sample surveys among vehicle owners to determine average distance covered by different classes of vehicles. Intormation was also collected from organisations ouming large fleet of trucks and buses. Methodology adopted in arriving at the vehicular pollutional load was evolved with guidance from the Indian Institute of"P~troleum, Dehradun. Appropriate emission factors developed by World Health Organisation are used in this report.

This report is brought out in l3 parts. This document. Part- I, is a summary report of the situation in all the l2 metropo11tan cities. Parts II to XIII deal with individual metropolitan cities.
