Pollution Potential of Industries in Coastal Area of India

                                                Foreword

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has a coastline of about 6,000 km long. Nearly twenty five percent of the country's population lives near at the land-water interface on a sustainable basis, it is imperative to adopt appropriate pollution control an assessment of the present actual state and extent of coastal pollution through systematic monitoring over past few , it has now become important to identify and link the pollution causative factors/sources for effective regulatory ures. The present document provides an overview of location and types of the large and medium industries in the al areas of the country that may have direct or indirect potential to cause coastal pollution. The document may be quite , and useful for the coastal states to initiate regulatory action for abatement of coastal pollution.
