Use Classification of Indian Coasts and Conflicts - Part -IV (Gujarat and Maharashtra Coasts)

                                               Foreword
The Central Board surveyed the entire coastline of the country with a view to identify its use pattern and pollution potential. First survey report of the coastal stretch extending from Madras to Kanyakumari on the Bay of Bengal was brought out as COPOCS/1/1982. Second report (COPOCS/2/ 1984-85) of the series presented the use maps for part of the West Cost, extending from Goa to Kanya- kumari. The third report of the series (COPOCS/3/f985-86) covered the entire coasts of Orlssa and West Bengal States. Survey of .the coast of Andhra Pradesh has a1so been covered in a separate report (C()POCS/5/1986-87). The present report, fourth in the series, covers the remaining part of the West COast extending from Lakhpat (near Koteshwar) to .Terekhol (near Goa) comprising the entire coasts ofGujarat including Union Territory ofDaman and Diu, and the Maharashtra State.
