Use Classification of Indian Coasts and Confucts (Part -II)

                                                Foreword

The first Publication of the Central Board in the Series, COPOCS/1 / 1982, was devoted to the presentation of use maps for the coastal stretch extending from Madras to Kanyakumari on the Bay of Bengal. In that report approach to coastal pollution control based on use concept was outlined. The present report, second in the series, includes use maps for the west coast stretch extending from Goa to Kanyakumari, and recommendations in respect of existing and future point source wastewater discharges into the stretch.

A survey of the stretch from Goa to Kanyakumari, preceding the preparation of this report was conducted during February, 1983 by a team comprising personnel from the State Boards of Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu and the Central Board under the overall coordination of Dr.K.R. Ranganathan and
Dr. H.S. Matharu. The present report prepared by Shri B.P. Shukla, Assistant Engineer, Central Board was also reviewed by Dr. A. Prakash, a Consultant to the Central Board. Dr. H.S. Matharu finally organised the report.
