Based on industry-wise studies, the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) brings to put publications entitled "Comprehen.sive Industry Document Series (COINDS)". These are intended to cover various types of industries in the country with respect to their pollution potential and unit processes that are available to control discharges/emissions of pollutants. The Minimal National Standards (MINAS) are evolved as part of these documents.

The present document on textile industry is one in the series. Basic report on the industry was prepared by Environmental Engineering Consultants. Co-operation extended in the field studies by various textile industries are gratefully acknowledged. We believe, the document will be useful to the industries, regulatory agencies, consultants and others concerned with pollution control activities.
