Comprehensive Industry Document for Small Pulp and Paper Industry

                                                Foreword

The Comprehensive Industry Document on Small Pulp and Paper Industry (production capacity upto 10,000 tonnes per annum and without chemical recovery) is one from the series that Central Board for the Prevention and Control of Water Pollution has 'taken up for publishing under the Comprehensive Industry Document Series (COINDS).

The main objective of this document apart from giving overall view of this type of industry, is to develop Minimal National Standards (MINAS) which can not be relaxed by any State Regulatory Agencies because the same is techno- economically acceptable to the industry. The State Boards have agreed not to relax the standards but can make it stringent depending on the location and quality of recipient environment.

The study was conducted on behalf of Central Board for the Prevention and Control of Water Pollution on a contractual basis by ,!:he National Environmental Engineering Research Institute, Nag pur. The help and assistance extended by the State Pollution Control Boards and All India Small Paper Mills Association during the study is gratefully acknowledged.

Dr. S. P. Chakraborty, Technical Secretary and Shri C. S. Tripathi, Assistant Environmental Engineer of the Central Board coordinated the activities scrutinised and edited the document prepared by the NEERI to bring it. into the desired form.

It is believed that the document would be useful to the industry, regulatory agencies, the consultants and others interested in pollution control.
