Comprehensive Industry Document on Gas-based Thermal Power Plant

                                                Foreword
Gas-based power plants are becoming popular due to their low installation cost and gestation period. They are also less poluting compared to conventional coal-based thermal power plants which generate large quantities of solid, liquid and gaseous pollutants.

The document proyides comprehensive coverage on the process technology vis-a-vis measures for control of emission and effluent.

The objective of this document, apart from giving an overview of the process, is to develop national standards for such plants taking into consideration the techno-economic feasibility of the control options.

The work for collection of relevant data and preparation of background documentation was done by the Development Consultants Ltd., Calcutta.

The document has been brought to the present form by a team of my colleagues including Shri Lalit Kapur, Senior Environmental Engineer, Shri Sandeep Shrivastava, Environmental Engineer and Dr. Jayant Moitra, Scientist B, under the guidance of Dr. B. Sengupta, Senior Scientist. Shri Umesh Gupta, Stenographer, assisted in transcription of the document.

We trust, the document will be useful to the industry, regulatory agencies, consultants and all concerned with pollution control.
